Braided line has done more to fuel the current huge interest in lure fishing and jigging than any other item of fishing tackle.

The very low ratio of diameter to breaking strain allows easy long casts to be made. Low stretch allows saltwater lures to be worked with great precision and allows the angler to feel everything. A more recent idea is multi-colour lines that are marked so the angler can drop jigs to a given depth and adjust depth to exactly where shoals of fish can be seen on a fish finder screen.
